Ikinagulat ni Bataan first district Representative Geraldine Roman ang pagkakalagay niya sa listahan ng mga diumano’y mambabatas na kumukupit sa mga proyekto ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DSWD) sa kanilang nasasakupan.
Matatandaan na naglabas ang Presidential Anti Corruption Commission (PACC) ng listahan ng mga kongresista na diumano’y nakikipagsabwatan sa kanilang mga district engineer para makakuha ng parte sa pondo na gagamitin sa ilang proyekto.
Isa si Roman sa mga nabanggit sa listahan dahil daw humihingi ito ng 10% na kickback sa lahat ng proyekto ng DPWH sa kanyang nasasakupan.
Ayon kay Roman ay hindi ginawa kailanman ng kanyang pamilya na pagkakitaan ang kanilang posisyon sa gobyerno.
“I am shocked to hear that my name was mentioned by the President in a list of Congressmen allegedly involved in anomalies in their projects. Public service has never been a money-making venture for me or my family whose good name is highly esteemed in Bataan,” ani Roman.
Kumpiyansa naman ang unang transgender na kongresista sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas na lalabas din ang katotohanan kapag nag umpisa na ang imbestigasyon tungkol sa diumano’y korapsyon ng ilang mambabatas.
“I am comforted by the fact that the President clarified that there is no verified information in this regard. I am open to any investigation to establish the truth on this matter and I am sure that my honor will be vindicated. My conscience is clear,” saad niya.
Maliban kay Roman ay binanggit din ni Pangulong Duterte sina Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez Sato, Quezon City 5th District Rep. Alfred Vargas, Misamis Occidental Rep. Henry Oaminal, Isabela 4th District Rep. Alyssa Sheena Tan, Northern Samar 1st District Rep. Paul Daza, Quezon Rep. Angelina “Helen” Tan, ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Yap at dating Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat.
