Isang respetadong doktor sa Pilipinas ang sinabi na mas pipiliin niya parin na maturukan ng China-made Sinovac kaysa sa Astrazeneca.
Sa kanyang Facebook post, sinabi ni Dr. Edsel Salvana, isang eksperto sa mga nakakahawang sakit ay ‘fairly equivalent’ naman ang efficacy ng parehong bakuna.
Pwede rin diumano sa kanya ang Sinovac dahil hindi naman siya 60 anyos pataas.
Hindi narin diumano niya makayanan ang nauumsyaming pagdating ng bakuna galing Pfizer sa Pilipinas.
“Awesome news! Astra vaccine may arrive next week. I’m still taking Sinovac though. Why?”
“1. Based on my comparison of data, the Astra and Sinovac efficacy is actually fairly equivalent and this is also the NITAG and TAG position. Why?
Sinovac efficacy:
mild (general population): 65% (Indonesia) to 91% (Turkey)
mild (healthcare workers): 50.4%
moderate: 78%
severe: 100%
Astra efficacy:
mild (general population): 62%
mild (healthcare workers): NO DATA
moderate: NO DATA
severe: 100%”
“2. I am less than 60 years old, so as a healthcare worker I can choose either Sinovac or Astra. Senior (60 yrs or older) healthcare workers have no choice but Astra because of the EUA for Sinovac.
I want to make sure there are enough vaccine doses available to our senior health care workers who are DOUBLY at risk and don’t have a choice since the total number of available vaccines is still not enough to cover all our healthcare workers.”
“3. Finally, we’ve been here before with the supposed Pfizer rollout and I can’t stand this uncertainty anymore. I’ll get the first vaccine that is physically there so I can get vaccinated right away.

Naging kontrobersiyal ang Sinovac dahil sa may ilang Pilipino ang ayaw nito dahil sa gawa daw ito galing China.
